This is a hardcore tent designed with mountaineers in mind - something that is reflected in the price, although on the plus side, this a tent more than capable of dealing with some pretty gnarly conditions, whether it’s torrential downpours, snow flurries or windy weekends in the North Yorkshire Moors. Could prove a little cramped for four people.One of the toughest tents on the market.The North Face North Face Summit Series Bastion 4 Quick-Corner Technology aside, there’s a not a huge amount of tech with this tent, although if you’re not bothered about additional bells and whistles, it’s a fantastic option for shorter camping trips in warmer weather. We’re especially keen on Kelty’s Quick-Corner Technology, which refers to the combination of extended pole sleeves and self-standing tent poles and allows for quick one-person set up. The reason we’re still recommending it is because it’s brilliant value and has a design that means it’s both sturdy and easy to set up.
When probed about this, the justification from Kelty was that it’s an American-style four-man, and who knows? Perhaps Americans really do travel lighter when camping, but either way, don’t purchase this tent expecting a huge amount of spare room. First things first: while this tent is marketed as a four-man, it should really come with a disclaimer stating that the four people should ideally be (a) very small, (b) not have any luggage and (c) get along really well.
